Azerbaijan eyes to prohibit presence of representatives in trials

Three more issues have been added to the agenda of the Azerbaijani parliament’s plenary session scheduled for October 31.

These are bills envisaging amendments to the Code of Civil Procedure, Administrative Procedure Code and the Law on Advocates and Advocacy.

The proposed amendments to all three documents have to do with the issue of banning the activities of representatives.

Thus, the number of issues in the plenary session’s agenda reached 38.

Amendments to the Code of Civil Procedure, the Code of Administrative Procedure, and the Law on Advocate and Advocacy were removed from the Azerbaijani parliament’s agenda at the plenary session on Oct. 20.

Speaker Ogtay Asadov outlined the deficiency in preparing the draft laws as the reason.

A few days after the session it revealed that the discussion of these issues was postponed until the parliament’s spring session.

The Chairman of the Supreme Court presented bills on amendments to the Civil Procedure Code and Administrative Offences Code, and the Law on Advocate and Advocacy on October 6.

The bills propose prohibiting the participation of representatives in civil and administrative proceedings and the participation of only members of the Bar Association.
