World premiere of Firangiz Alizadeh’s work held in San Francisco

Baku – APA. World premiere of work “Regs” (Dance) by chairperson of the Azerbaijan Composers Union, People's Artist Firangiz Alizadeh was held in San Francisco as part of the Kronos Festival.

The audience greeted the work performed by renowned Kronos Quartet with thunderous applause, Azerbaijan’s consulate in San Francisco told APA.

The work composed for “Fifty for the Future” exclusive program of the quartet embodies the different rhythms of Azerbaijani dances that passed down from generation to generation.

More than 500 spectators viewed the concert at the San Francisco JAZZ Center. Employee of Azerbaijan's Consulate General in Los Angeles Ramin Aliyev attended the concert and expressed his gratitude to the musicians and organizers of the event for a great attention to the Azerbaijani music and culture.

In 1973, David Harrington was inspired to form Kronos Quartet. Since 1978, they are based in San Francisco. In 2011, Kronos became the only recipients of both the Polar Music Prize and the Avery Fisher Prize, two of the most prestigious awards given to musicians. The group’s numerous awards also include a Grammy for Best Chamber Music Performance (2004).
