Bahram Ghasemi: We advise US gov’t not to go the wrong way

US policy is unsuccessful, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Ghasemi told a press conference Monday answering a question as to the US sanctions on Iran, APA’s Tehran bureau reported.

“It’s like carrying water in a sieve. US officials should not use the unsuccessful practice ever again. Otherwise they’ll be forced to step back again. We should wait for the result. If approved by the foreign relations committee, it will be put up for discussion and will eventually be submitted to the President. Plans have proved unsuccessful many times. We advise the US government not to make a mistake again and go the wrong way,” he said.

Ghasemi said that before the terrors in Tehran, Saudi Arabia's officials made absurd and suspicious statements: “Some processes occurred following the Ar Riyad meeting and we witnessed bitter incidents in neighboring countries. Taking into account what is happening in the region, we support a positive solution to the issues at the negotiating table. The countries should strive for stability in the region. We call on the parties to be restrained and start negotiations.”

Ghasemi said that Tehran is trying to establish good relations with neighboring countries. “We have good relations with Qatar and we are ready for cooperation with other regional countries. We always negotiate with Turkey. We had disagreements, but that hasn’t affected our friendship. We support a solution to the problems through negotiations. If necessary, obstacles can be eliminated due to the parties’ will. The parties need to want it and define the spheres of cooperation”, he said.
